Last year teen singer Rebecca Black became an overnight global internet sensation when the song "Friday" -- a song about her favourite day of the week ("Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday") -- went viral. It racked up over 200 million views, as well as thousands of dislikes.
Now we have Nicole Westbrook, 12, singing about Thanksgiving. With such lyrics as "I've got the turkey, eh, mashed potato, eh, we, we, we, we're gonna have a good time," and "It's Thanksgiving, eh, it's Thanksgiving," this is the song that is going to launch a thousand dislikes (or 73,017 at time of publishing).
If the tune sounds fairly similar to Black's "Friday," you can thank (or blame) Patrice Wilson, the producer behind the first song. Where Friday lists the days of the week, "Thanksgiving" lists the relevant annual holidays (Christmas, New Years and Easter to be precise). Both songs also describe the joys of school being out and unsupervised parties without parents.
Along with nearly 4 million views so far, there's been plenty of feedback in the comments, mostly negative. Comments ranging from "this is brutal, like come on, don't need a f--king song about the months, that's why we have a f--king calendar" to "New Rebecca black!" clearly indicate the mixed sentiments towards the latest tween viral sensation.
